Celebrated on 28th July of each year, World Hepatitis day is one of the four disease for which awareness day is recognized by the World health organization. Other diseases which are recognized are Aids Day, TB day and malaria day. the awareness day was launched in 2008
In terms of movements , World Hepatitis Day is one of eight endorsed worldwide civic fitness movements marked by the World Health Organization (WHO), along with World Health Day, World Blood Donor Day, World Immunization Week, World Tuberculosis Day, World No Tobacco Day, World Malaria Day and World AIDS Day.
One in 12 people across the world are impacted with hepatitis and it is the 8th biggest cause of death worldwide. Most people die because they are not aware of the risks and symptoms of this diseases. Hence every year many people across the world come together on 28th July to celebrate world hepatitis day across the world with events such as road Shows, rallies, vaccination drives, fairs campaigns and many more to spread awareness and save lives.
Too often many people face humiliation and confusion around viral hepatitis. Hence this year the organizing committee want people to ‘think again’ about the disease. The World Hepatitis Day 2014 will happen on 28th July 2014, and run with the theme Hepatitis: Think Again.
